Join us for an inspiring lunch with Deputy Chief Julie Craddock, the first female Deputy Chief of the Anishinabek Police Service!

Deputy Chief Julie Craddock began her career in 1994, as a member of the Ontario Provincial Police and was posted to the Marathon Detachment. She transferred to the Halton Regional Police Service in 1995 where she has encompassed a broad range of operational roles including
Criminal Investigations, Traffic, Recruiting, Community Mobilization and Frontline Operations at rank levels spanning from Constable to Inspector. As the Manager of the Strategic Management Office, Julie was involved in a number of significant change initiatives, including the implementation and deployment of in-car cameras systems and automated licence plate technology (ALPR). In 2020, this unit was awarded the OACP Traffic Safety Initiative of the Year Award for utilizing side camera technology to enhance road safety in the Region of Halton.
Julie became the first female Deputy Chief of the Sarnia Police Service in March 2023. She oversaw the Community Support Division where she demonstrated a strong dedication to community safety and well-being, ensuring an effective response to a myriad of complex social issues through meaningful collaboration with community stakeholders, social service agencies, and municipal leaders. While with the SPS, Julie introduced new training to support victims of intimate partner violence, created a Youth Engagement and Diversion Team and worked closely with Aamjiwnaang First Nation to develop a policing model led by the community.
In September 2024, she became the first female Deputy Chief of the Anishinabek Police Service and currently oversees police operations and criminal investigations for 16 First Nation Communities in the Anishinabek Nation.
She has demonstrated success leading multifaceted organizational redesign, building strong teams through an inclusive leadership style, and creating supportive and respectful work environments through an equity, diversity and inclusion lens.
She is a graduate of the Canadian Association of Chief’s of Police (CACP) Executive Global Studies Program and has a BA in Equity, Diversity and Human Rights from Laurentian University.
Julie is active on a number of committees at the local, provincial, and international level, including:

Julie comes from a policing family and 2 of her 4 children are police officers with the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service. Her husband Shawn is a Corporal with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
