Last Sundays Songwriter's Circle
at LIVE! on Elgin
This Month Featuring Maeley, Loch Nisse Monster, Sandy Vance, & Mars Aspen
Sandy Vance:
"I'm Sandy Vance and I'm a songwriter who enjoys really pretty dreamy sounds, and also loud abrasive scary sounds. I play in a band called Teenage Fiction and we can't decide if we're a pop rock band or a grunge band, or a shoegaze band. And we don't want to decide. I also like cats and hugs and going for runs without music, and trying to figure out whether or not I'm actually real. Rock and roll forever."
Loch Nisse Monster:
Loch Nisse Monster originated from the swamps of an Ottawa 70's-themed house party, where in a drunken haze the singer-songwriter was told that her name sounded like the famous monster of Loch Ness. Nisse brings the folky vibe of this mysterious fantastical creature to her songwriting, telling stories and painting joyous and painful emotions. Along with musical inspiration from the genres of rock, pop, and punk, the "monster" in Loch Nisse Monster doesn't hesitate to get at ironic and unjust truths in the world around, yet with the hope of tales.
Maeley:
Maeley is a rising Canadian musician known for her unique sound and confessional songwriting. Drawing on elements of folk, rock, and pop, her music is both contemporary and timeless. Her debut LP "Burnout" has received radio play across Canada and showcases her ability to write and perform her lived experiences. Maeley's lyrics explore themes of heartache, mental health, and personal growth against the backdrop of small-town Ontario.
Maeley is currently based in Ottawa, Ontario. Follow her social media to stay up to date on performances and new music.
Mars Aspen:
Mars Aspen [they/them] is an emerging singer/songwriter currently based in ottawa, canada. They weave aspects of personal identity and experience into saccharine-sweet indie folk that invites any and all listeners to find a new home within their sound.
Their latest single “pest control” was released in november, and is available stream wherever you listen to your tunes! <3

about the event
Live! On Elgin will host a songwriter's circle on the last Sunday of each month in 2025. The songwriter's circle format originated in Nashville and made waves in the Canadian east coast. In these intimate unplugged sessions, songwriters sit together and take turns not only performing their original songs, but discussing the stories and inspirations that went into them. Each session will feature 3 or 4 guest songwriters, alongside host Cyrus R.O., of alternative rock band Valvehead and jazz fusion trio Finely Tuned Elephant.
